The size of a tyre is printed on the sidewall of every tyre. Most tyre sizes will look like this:
P205/70R14
In this example the tyre is 205mm wide, has an aspect ratio of 70% and is mounted on a wheel that is 14 inches in diameter (1 inch equals 25.4mm). The "R" in the size denotes that the tyre is a radial tyre (it is not used in this sizing chart). This tyre size will appear in the list as "205/70-14". Light truck tyres (ie. LT 235/85R16) will be listed as "LT235/85-16". All these numbers are necessary to find the traction product that will correctly fit your tyre.
The tyre size must be known to select a traction product. For passenger car, van and small pickup owners it is also important to check the vehicle owner's manual for clearance restriction. With the restricted wheel well clearance most of today's vehicles will require S.A.E Class "S" products. SCC winter traction products that meet Class "S" clearances are Iceman Z6™ and Iceman Z8™.
